BioEnterprise encourages businesses and business strategies seeking to identify, develop, and profit from biodiversity in a manner that leads to the protection and preservation of biodiversity. BioEnterprise recognizes that increasing the awareness of nature’s long-term value is a powerful way of providing incentive for protecting it. The Foundation's programs stimulate the establishment of projects that harness the power inherent in market economics with the value that science discovers in nature’s reservoir of useful products and services.
BioTrust is a biodiversity access program that utilizes a master agreement that links companies, basic researchers, database providers and countries together to encourage the development of genetic and molecular resources for profit, science, and conservation. This program adheres to and supports the principles established by the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Entrepreneurial Models highlight the strategies of successful business people and entrepreneurs around the globe who have used their business acumen in the service of conservation. Currently, the Foundation has established strategic relationships with a significant number of countries and corporations who are interested in the business model for protecting biodiversity.
“The attempt to solve the biodiversity crisis offers great benefits never before enjoyed, for to save species is to study them closely, and to learn them well is to exploit their characteristics in novel ways.” E.O. Wilson
